Rabbi Yoni Golker of St John’s Wood United Synagogue presents a fascinating new series. In this episode he speaks to Getachew Tekeba in Gondar, Ethiopia. Gech (as he is known) attended the Hebrew school, and Fasiledes Secondary School and has a certificate in Electricity and IT. Previously he was a kindergarten teacher for the Jewish Agency. Gech ran the after school club and his roles include teacher, mentor and friend to the children. Gech shares with us an insight to the Jewish community in Gondar town, (which even has a Bnei Akiva!), and he describes how challenging life is. Most of the adults living there hope to make Aliya to Israel.
